You need to install RAWS in the VM to do GRT restore of individual files/folders. The AVVI licence allows you to install RAWS in any number of VM on the physical host for which it is licenced. There is no addition charge for the RAWS.

Have you tried deleting one of your tapes, re-cataloging it and then restoring from it? Alternatively, on the Storage tab, click on the tape and the backup that you want, and then duplicate it to disk. Then try to restore for this duplicate.

If your tape drive is still under warranty, you should insist on a replacement even if the LT&T utility shows no problem. When the drive keeps asking to be cleaned despite being just cleansed, it is a sign of a faulty tape drive.
