I started with Backup Exec here in the Lake Mary (FL, USA) office back in early 2000 when the Tech/dot-com bubble was still young, carefree and about to pop. Thankfully I had found a great team (it had just been acquired from Seagate by VERITAS) and worked my way through the support org until 2006 when I shifted from the Backline Support team to Engineering. After showing a bit of apptitude for project management, communication, and just the right dash of crazy, I was offered the job of Beta Program Manager. I've since morphed that title into UAT (User Acceptance Testing) Program Manager since the Beta cycle is just one phase that migrates into the Release Candidate cycle and then the First Availability cycle. You can see my past blog post for some examples of how I've messaged those various cycles across multiple projects.
