Storage device settings doesn't matter in this case according to my knowledge. Have you configured FULL and Differential methods as different jobs? If so, both jobs will run.

I have a comment to flashbackup.  Flashbackup is a very good way to backup your volumes. But there is also another way to get there. Netbackup Acclerator and Deduplication, can be a better solution in the end.
