SEPM12.1 Several issues ( liveupdate,client package export )

Hi

We've just done the upgrade from SEPM (Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager) 11.0 to 12.1 . This new version has a lot of promissing features and works a lot faster than the 11.0 ( 11.0 was crashing all the time...) The current version is not crashing anymore and is responding a lot faster....

Although the many improvements we stil have some issues we like to fix ASAP.

1) Liveupdate: When I perform a live update (admin->servers->Download liveUpdate content ) from the management console, I get following messages:

September 15, 2011 9:24:10 PM CEST: LiveUpdate succeeded. [Site: Excentis] [Server: Apollo]
September 15, 2011 9:24:10 PM CEST: LUALL.EXE finished running. [Site: Excentis] [Server: Apollo]

Seems good but: in the home screen I see following

 Latest from Symantec: 15/09/2011 r1

Latest on Manager: 12/09/2011 r33

Now doesn't seems like the update worked. Then I found (on this forum) that you can clean and update liveupdate with -cleanup and -update cmd command. No success :-(

I also tried to run luall.exe. It works and updates, although it takes al lot of time. But still my homescreen indicates Latest on Manager: 12/09/2011 r33. Now I ran it a last time before sending this Question and got this as log output in the SEPM console:

September 15, 2011 10:15:12 PM CEST:  Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager could not update Virus and Spyware definitions Win32 12.1.  [Site: Excentis]  [Server: Apollo]
September 15, 2011 10:15:12 PM CEST:  Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager could not update Virus and Spyware definitions Win64 12.1.  [Site: Excentis]  [Server: Apollo]

2) When I try to export a client package it keeps on running for an hour and still no .exe file. It creates a folder containing some files and Setup file but I don't see a single exe file? Any idea why?

If anybody knows what is wrong or what I am doing wrong, please tell me.

Kind regards

Webbie

Hello,

In regards to your 1st Issue, it seems your SEPM is not upgrading the 32 bit and 64 bit Virus and Spyware definitions.

This seems to be an Issue of Corrupt definitions.

Try the Steps provided in the Article below:

Virus definitions in Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) are not updating

You can upgrade the SEPM with Latest Virus and Spyware definitions by Installing .jdb on your SEPM machine.

How to update definitions for Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager using a JDB file

By following the Above steps the issue would be resolved.

Hope this Helps!!!

SEP 12.1 definitions update issue.

I'm having the same issue but on Win2k8 r2 sp1.  latest from symantec is 2/3/2012 r3 and latest on manager is 2/2/2012 r18.  The manager was later but after the server was restarted yesterday it got up to date but is now out of date again.  I'm using a different policy for laptops to allow them to go out to the Symantec live updates site and download definitions and they are getting updates even when connected to our internal network.   Same issue with pushing install packages, just show's progress but never completes.
