Moving from 7.0 to 7.1

So, my company is in the process of setting up a new master server for our Backups.
What they want to do is take a snapshot of our current file system, load it to the new box, and then upgrade netbackup.
Now typically, this would be fine, except that I'm trying to push for a clean install. Our current backup server has been used for "testing", devolopement, and variuos other projects resulting in a mess, dead end links, empty folders, and infinite loops. I do not want to copy this mess to the new server.
Would I have any issues just installing netbackup 7.1 on the new server, and then importing all of the information from 7.0? Can I import from one version to another? How would some of the experts approach this situation.

NBSU is a good tool to
NBSU is a good tool to 'document' the setup/config of the important files in a Netbackup environment. But cannot be imported.
The catalog recovery procedure can be used to transfer a lot of the NBU configuration, policies etc between like for like OS.

But you are wanting a clean install. Go for clean install and learn as you go.
Tip: Get overview/document your NBU environment. Run 'nbsu' and review the output.

So, upgrade to 7.1 on old
So, upgrade to 7.1 on old server first... then migrate.
Or migrate on same version
Or migrate on same version (7.0), then upgrade.
Important to know that catalog recovery can only be used on same NBU version. Even patch level must be the same.
Supporting Storage Foundation and VCS on Unix and Windows as well as NetBackup on Unix and Windows.
